The Sugar Creek Difference
There are many great churches in our area led by pastors who love the Lord and want to meet the spiritual needs of people. So, what makes Sugar Creek unique? That includes our desire to receive people where they are and help them arrive at the place (we hope) they desire to be. There are several ways we seek to do that.
Today, we will have a Back-to-School Bash. During this fun time, children will play games, eat some great food, and leave with a new backpack filled with school supplies. Even though school has already started, we hope these school supplies will supplement what they will need in the weeks and months ahead.
Our Sunday School. We have Sunday School classes for all age groups Preschool, Children, Youth, and Adults. If you will go to our website www.sugarcreekbc.com you will find information about our Sunday School and the many other ministries and services we offer.
Our morning worship begins at 10:15 and is filled with worshipful music and preaching from God’s Word. My most often used method of preaching is expository messages as we travel verse-by-verse through a book in the Bible. Currently, we are studying the importance of truth – knowing truth and knowing how to communicate that truth to others.
There are many services and ministries designed to helped meet the spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of people. Our Mental Health Leadership Team is seeking to always be on the cutting edge of training and meeting needs of people within the church and the community.
Within this area we offer DivorceCare. The next thirteen-week cycle of care will begin September 10th and will continue for 13 weeks. DivorceCare is for individuals who are currently separated from their spouse and/or divorced. Compassionate Friends is for those grieving loss and meets every Thursday afternoon.
Soon, our AWANA ministry will begin a new season of activities. The name of this powerful ministry to children stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. This ministry, in place for more than 60 years, is described by our AWANA Commander as “a program that helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ.” This fun and power-packed ministry will kick-off a new season on September 6th of this year.
Discipleship is another cornerstone ministry. We offer the same kind of discipleship opportunities modeled by our Lord. He discipled people one-on-one, one-on-some, and one-on-many. If you have never been personally discipled, this would be a great place to plug-in at Sugar Creek.
We have many outreach endeavors seeking to meet the needs of people in the community. Along with our mental health work and workshops, we serve a warm, wholesome, great-tasting meal once a month at the West Vigo Community Center. Our next meal is tomorrow night at 5:00. These are just a few of the many ways Sugar Creek is unique. Come and check us out as soon as possible.
