Sugar Creek Leadership Training Academy

The Sugar Creek Leadership Training Academy

The need for leaders is abundantly clear. We see this need everywhere we go. A known reality is everything rises and falls on leadership. There is also a need for leadership training so people can achieve their maximum potential – even those who do not see themselves as leaders today. This is why we are establishing The Sugar Creek Leadership Training Academy.

Phase 1

Phase 1 will be led by an experienced proven leader by the name of Bruce Beck. This will be in the form of interactive workshops. It will consist of two five-to-six-hour sessions with a light lunch (to begin), snacks, a break or two and end with dinner. Some of the key factors to be addressed and woven into the workshops during Phase 1 are:

  • The character qualities of a leader
  • Our key Sugar Creek strategy statements
  • The leadership skills that need to be found and enhanced

The Goals

  1. To design and implement a reproducible leadership training and development process for multiple age groups. In this first phase our current leaders (CC) will absorb the training. This will have an immediate and profound impact on our culture and our community. In Phase 2 we will seek to enlist those outside our immediate church family to those in the community who desire to discover and enhance their leadership skills.
  2. To establish a Leadership Development Director and add that director to the Church Council to help us apply what we are learning immediately and for years to some.
  3. To immediately implement the training in real and dynamic ways so the training moves from theory to reality.

Invitees to the Phase 1 Workshop

  • Our Church Council and others who are proven leaders and those with obvious leadership potential.
  • One to five people in each of the following age group segments: older teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, & 80s. As we are trained by our host we will also learn from each other and teach each other how to implement the lessons learned.

On The Horizon Notes About Children & Youth

During the workshop sessions, children 6-12 and youth 13-15 need to be in our thinking though not in attendance. Current children and youth leadership with be encouraged to share truths and principles as they have opportunity.

Even though their brains are still in development, we need to begin the leadership training of children and youth ASAP rather than waiting until they are adults.

Their training could include such things as appropriate for their age as they grow including Bible study skills, small and large group speaking skills, and team building skills.
