Not Safe for Children

In 1995 a campaign was launched called The National SAFE KIDS Campaign. It was launched to prevent unintended injuries to children under the age of 14. We see this kind of warning on such things as plastic bags and small toys that can cause a child to choke and result in long-lasting injury if not death. A concern that is growing and intensifying today is – the world is not a safe place for children.

Quite often the voices of “prophets” are overlooked if not outright rejected. We read of this in the Bible. We have seen this in history. Winston Churchill saw, with prophetic eyes, the rise of Nazi Germany. Were it not for Churchill, Great Britain today would be a part of Germany. For much of his political life Churchill was viewed as a doofus. His speech impediment added to the rejection of his words by so many. Yet, his seeing the coming wave of Nazi Germany under the command of Adolph Hitler is what saved Great Britain.

God often puts people in places of influence to see what is coming. The wise listen. The majority do not. A tsunami that has been building has only begun to hit the shorelines of America. This tsunami is a tactical plan to destroy our children. Bullying, the identity crises, the rise of anxiety, childhood traumatic experiences, and suicide are several of the methods our enemies are using to destroy the most precious among us.

The Bible tells us we have three primary enemies – the world, the flesh, and the devil. The word “world” is used different ways in the Bible – our planet, people, and to refer to a system aligned against God and the people of God. We are to be good stewards of our planet. We know God so loved the world (the people) He gave His only begotten Son. However, in 1 John 2:15 we are admonished, “Do not love the world…” The flesh, our second enemy, refers not to our skin, but to the negative force inside us leading us to do bad things. The devil is our third enemy. Jesus on one occasion, referring to the devil as a thief said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

Because of the flesh and the devil, this world is not a safe place for any of us especially our children. The wise parents and grandparents are the ones who see the tsunami coming and are putting safeguards in place for their children and their grands. Churchill believed the first task of faithfulness is to understand reality. If you can see reality for what it is and see the wave that is coming, you and we all, would be wise to put safeguards in place because this world is not a safe place for children. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me and do not forbid them for of such is the kingdom of God.”
