Impossible Situations
What impossible situation are you facing today? Life can become so complicated. Sometimes it looks like there is no resolution to our dilemma. These situations just come upon us or are products of our own making.
It is Christmas. It is time for us to consider again the powerful dynamics of the time our Lord came to be born of a virgin.
In Nazareth, Mary was minding her own business. All of the sudden the angel Gabriel appeared to her. Luke shares his version of this powerful encounter.
“Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
Can we even begin to imagine what this must have been like and the questions Mary had? After a few more words, Gabriel explained why he was there. He said, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and shall call His name Jesus.”
Mary’s response was “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” There was the impossible situation. Then Gabriel said, “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
As she ponders all the whys and what ifs, Gabriel explains to her how this is going to happen. “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”
The One who has the power to make possible the impossible is the Holy Spirit. In response Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
What impossibilities are you facing in these days? What impossibilities are you facing in your life, body, marriage, family, relationships, friendships, career, education, area of ministry, neighborhood, and our nation?
How often do we just give up when faced with an impossible situation? How often do we turn to the Holy Spirit in times like these?
The missing element in the world today is the Holy Spirit. Not because He is gone or not here. He is the missing element because we often forget Him or fail to turn to Him.
He is in the business of empowering people so great things can happen. He is so important. If He is not empowering, all that is attempted and all that is accomplished is less than what could have been experienced. Life changing ministry is letting the Holy Spirit have complete control of our lives so He is released to work in and through us. He is the answer to your impossible situations.
