I Love a Good Story
We have been considering some serious topics over the last few weeks. I thought you might enjoy a little change of pace. So, enjoy!
It always does our hearts good when we hear of the heroic efforts of a good Samaritan. On a stifling hot day a man fainted in the middle of a busy intersection downtown. Traffic came to a standstill and quickly a woman rushed-in to help. As she knelt down to loosen the man’s collar, another man emerged from the crowd, gently pushed her aside, and said, "It's all right mam, I've had a course in first aid. Let me see what I can do to help." The woman stood up and watched as he took the ill man's pulse and prepared to administer first aid. At this point she tapped him on the shoulder and said, "When you get to the part about calling a doctor, I'm already here." Thanks to all the first responders and good Samaritans. Keep up the good work.
An airplane full of people were taking a flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles. By the time they took off, there had been a 45-minute delay and everybody on board was quite stressed. As they were cruising along nicely the flight attendant announced the need to make an unexpected stop in Sacramento. As you can imagine, the people were not happy. As they were landing, she also explained they would be on the ground for approximately 45-minutes and the passengers could depart the aircraft for some refreshment but to be ready to reboard in 30 minutes. Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind. The pilot, walking through the cabin, asked the gentleman if he would like to exit the plane. He said, “No, I’m fine, but my service dog would probably like to stretch his legs." As some of the people inside the terminal were considering changing planes, they saw the pilot, in his full pilot uniform, exiting the plane, wearing his sunglasses, holding onto the service dog. A paralyzing silence swept through the crowd of passengers. Immediately there was a frantic attempt to not only change planes but to change airlines. Be careful about jumping to conclusions.
Pastors are always seeking ways to encourage people to be consistent in attendance. One Sunday morning, church goers arrived at church to find this item in the Sunday morning bulletin. Take a deep breath and blow on this QR Code. If the code turns green, you should see a doctor. If it turns blue, you should see your dentist. If it turns red, you should see your bank manager. If it turns totally white, you should see your lawyer and update your will. However, if there is no change in color, then there is probably nothing wrong with you and there is no reason why you should not be in church again next Sunday.”
Have a great day! I hope you will attend church tomorrow.
