Happy New Year!

In a couple days we will ring in a new year. Many of us will do so in the safety of our homes. Many will choose to be at church for the evening or out and about. Be safe whatever your plans may be.

Traditionally, this is the time many think about their New Year’s resolutions. For the rest of us we have given up on this failed attempt to turn over a new leaf.

However, this is a great time reflect back a bit and look forward to new endeavors. As we look back, this has been a tough year for many of us. We have experienced some hardships we could not have predicted. Hopefully there have also been some victories along the way.

As we set our sights on 2024, what plans are on the horizon for you? Some of you are ready for graduation day as you complete your secondary education or earn an advanced degree. People are beginning new endeavors because they won an election this year. Congratulations!

How many of you are beginning a new business or a new career this year? It is impossible to list all the potential advancements and achievements we all hope to accomplish over the next 366 days. Yes, we are facing a leap year in 2024.

What are your plans for your spiritual life? There is a song I heard at church last Sunday. It has been rolling through my mind all week. It goes like this.

A family hiding from the storm
Found no place at the keeper's door
It was for this a Child was born
To save a world so cold and hollow.
The sleeping town, they did not know
That lying in a manger low
A Savior King who had no home
Has come to heal our sorrows.
Is there room in your heart for God to write His story?
     Shepherds counting sheep at night
Do not fear the glory light
You are precious in His sight
God has come to raise the lowly.
You can come as you are
But it may set you apart
When you make room in your heart
And trade your dreams for His glory.
Make room in your heart. Make room in your heart.
Mother holds the promise tight
Every wrong will be made right
The road is straight, the burden's light
For in His hands, He holds tomorrow.
You can come as you are
     It may set you apart
When you make room in your heart
And trade your dreams for His glory.
Make room in your heart for God to write His story.

It is my hope and prayer you will always make room in your heart for God to write His story, especially this year. If I can ever help you on that journey, please let me know. Happy New Year!
