A Different GPS

Do you have a GPS (Global Positioning System)? People who have them rely on them significantly. The first one I purchased was a TomTom. I bought it when we lived near Memphis, Tennessee. It help me get to where I wanted to go without wandering into certain areas of the city.

Today, I, like many of you, have GPS on my smartphone. All I need to do is tell the map app where I want to go and in seconds I have turn-by-turn directions. Amazing!

A different kind of GPS is our God Position Strategy. This GPS tells is where we are in our relationship with Him. It also reminds us how much we rely on God without even realizing it. Let’s consider two items where we depend on Him every day.

First, there is the temperature outside. We have been enjoying some warmer temperatures these days and I for one say Amen!

The temperature on the surface of the Sun is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. That is hot! By the grace of God all that temperature does not make it to earth. If it did, we would be toast. By His grace we get enough heat off of the sun but not too much.

But imagine if somehow the temperature on the planet were to increase or degrees a mere 100 degrees. I think you would agree that in the vastness of space it would be easy for 100 degrees to be gained or lost between here and the sun.

Imagine this summer when we are out mowing our lawns that the temperature outside was not 90 degrees in the shade but a 190 degrees.

Imagine if on the coldest day of winter it was not 15 degrees below zero but 115 degrees below zero. Let’s not even go there.

By the grace of God, He allows enough heat from the sun but not too much or too little.

Another item is our barometric pressure. Barometric pressure, also called atmospheric pressure or air pressure, is the force or weight of the air surrounding us making life on earth possible.

We so take our barometric pressure for granted the weather people only rarely speak of it. Yet, for more than 6,000 years God has seen to it that we have enough atmospheric pressure but not too much.

Slight differences in our barometric pressure can have a major impact on our heart. For those who fish, you know that barometric pressure effects your likelihood of having a good day or a bad day of fishing.

In God’s Position Strategy, there are two important factors. We are either saved or lost. There is no middle ground. People are not a little bit saved and mostly lost nor are we a little bit lost and mostly saved. We are one or the other. My hope and prayer for you is that you are heading in the right direction. Have a great day!
